Adding Images & Sounds

Some mods need art. A new sword needs a texture, a new button needs an icon, and some mods add sounds. Modmixer provides a drag and drop UI so adding assets is easy and doesn't require any understanding of the code.

Ask for art in plain English

When you describe your mod, for example a new sword, Modmixer already knows it needs a texture and creates a texture slot in the Assets panel. The slot will have a descriptive name like "LongSword". All you need to do is drag your sword image into that slot and it will appear in RimWorld.

Generating art

Modmixer includes simple art generation capability. If you don't have a texture yet, you can ask in the chat "create a texture for the sword". Modmixer will generate the image and you'll see it appear in the Assets panel.

Adding sounds

Sounds work the same way as images. You'll find them under the Audio tab on the Assets panel.

Adding art directly in the chat

There's one more way to add art. You can drag and drop images/sounds directly to the chat and tell Modmixer what to do with them. You'll still see them appear under the Assets panel, so this is just a different way to achieve the same thing.

Test what you added

Art and audio are easy to get subtly wrong. A texture can come out the wrong size, or a sound can be too quiet. Launch RimWorld and check. If something looks or sounds off, describe it in the chat and Modmixer will fix it.

Why are there pink squares in my game?

If you haven't set an image it will appear as a pink square to remind you to set it. Just go back to Modmixer and look for the empty asset slot.
